Africa’s rangelands are among the continent’s most valuable natural landscapes. They support people, livestock, wildlife, biodiversity, water systems and livelihoods — while playing an important role in the global climate system.

The Africa Rangelands Carbon & Biodiversity Programme (ARCBP) brings together practical land restoration, climate action, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development through a coordinated programme designed for Africa’s rangelands.

Our approach is built around the understanding that healthy landscapes create stronger communities, more resilient livelihoods and better outcomes for nature and climate.

ARCBP provides an umbrella framework through which individual projects can be developed, implemented, measured and independently managed while contributing to a common programme vision.

ARCBP operates as a Programme of Activities (PoA). Individual Component Project Activities (CPAs) can participate within the wider programme while maintaining their own project identity, documentation, carbon assets and project-level systems.

A Programme for Africa

The programme begins with projects in Kenya and is designed to expand to like-minded ranches, communities and landscapes across Tanzania and other African countries.
